Concerned Plateau Stakeholders Raises Alarm Over Unfair Treatment Done to Former Executive Secretary NCPC

Plateau the unfortunate allied, NCPC in question!

It has become very necessary for us as concern Plateau Stakeholders to make this categorical statement at this time, we are worried about the recent events at Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC).
At the moment, as the name suggests is a commission saddle with the responsibility of carrying out a supervisory role, for intending pilgrims from Nigeria to all Christain spiritual sites In Isreal and beyond where Christ visited and his disciples.
But it is with great concern that we notice with disdain the activities of some individuals who are supposed to showcase the attributes of Christ displaying all sorts of tribalism and hatred for one another.
Early this year, January 2024 an announcement was made by the media aid to the President of an appointment of Board members of the NCPC, at that time the Executive Secretary of the NCPC was neither mentioned nor asked to leave office. But to our greatest surprise one Bishop Stephen Adegbite, started addressing the press and saying that Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam was removed and he will replace him, we also gathered that the Executive Secretary made efforts to the office of the SGF for clarification and he was asked to remain as there was no communication to that effect. But the Bishop kept parading himself and making media hype on the said matter. Then we knew that there was a great Conspiracy from a clique to do something funny, when we thought the ground was calm, when the President went for a visit to France.

The tenure of Rev Pam Yakubu has one year six months left, and we asked why the humiliation?

When we thought the ground was calm, when the president went for a visit to France. On Wednesday 31st Jan there was a new twist to the event, The said bishop Adegbite and two other name board members and some questionable religious leaders stormed NCPC head office at about 6pm in the evening with some hired press men and some staff of the NCPC who were part of the plan, made a press statement that they have received their letter of appointment and Rev Yakubu Pam seizes to be the Executive secretary. (Why in the night) after office hour.

Our Concerns to the President;

  1. The tenure of the Es has not elapsed so why the rush.
  2. He has never been disengaged or asked to leave the office by Law he is still the ES of the commission.
  3. Whose responsibility is it to introduce a newly appointed to an organisation.
Why did the Bishop and some few force their way into the office without a representative from the office of the SGF.
  4. Has Nigeria become only for the Yorubas that all agencies must be replaced by them even if by law the tenure is not over eg ITF. NCPC. Nepotism.
  5. Why did they allow the president to be out of Nigeria before they hatch their evil plan against the ES.. there must be a cabal in the villa. Fish them out
  6. We notice out of the 9 appointed only two of the board members in conjunction with Bishop Adegbite are doing this evil act. Where are the rest ( wolf in sheep clothing).
  7. Can you take over from an organisation without a handing over note from the man there, how do you intend to start the work without a foundation. Since you Adegbite ask that he should not be allow into the office.is that your house.
  8. We call on the president to reverse whatever was done in his absence to tarnish his image as a great nationalist.
  9. Bishop Stephen Adegbite and the two others be arrested for intruding into government organisations and performing evil acts.
  10. The security men they hired should be investigated and sanctioned by law.
  11. CAN should suspend the bishop for this evil act that has brought the name of the church to disrepute.
  12. Investigation into the act and those involved in the villa should be disciplined by law.
  13. The Es has a year plus to conclude his tenure the president should allow him to carry on with the good work he has been doing, including advocacy for peace in the country.

We are calling on the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to look into this matter not to allow some few people in his government to spoil his government using his name.

Signed;
Concerned Plateau Stakeholders (COPS).

Northern Governors Task Acting Inspector General of Police on Proactive Security Measures

The Northern Governors Forum has congratulated the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba over his recent appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to pay attention to proactive measures in tackling crime in the country.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong in a statement said the appointment of the Acting IGP is well deserved considering his track record of diligent service to the nation across various police formations in the country.

While wishing him a successful tenure, Governor Lalong said the Northern Governors Forum will accord him all the necessary support to enable him provide the leadership needed for proactive policing that deters crime, effectively tracks criminals and generally attracts the goodwill of the public.

He said “as Northern Governors, we remain committed to Community Policing and any other measure that will lead to securing our region which has been bedeviled by different forms of insecurity. We must work together to adopt new measures that will not only enable us overcome these challenges, but also remain on top of the situation by preventing criminals from carrying out their nefarious activities”.

Lalong said the Northern Governors are particularly concerned that the farming season is at hand and many farmers may be discouraged from cultivating their farms if crimes such as banditary, kidnapping and insurgency are not brought to and end.

The Northern Governors Forum Chairman called on Nigerians to support the Acting IGP and the entire security architecture for a more secure nation.

Re-Assault on Security Guard, Mr Sargwak by Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau, Justice Danladi Umar. The position of Tarok Intellectuals

Our attention has been drawn to a viral video making round on the internet showing the Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar assaulting a security guard Mr Sargwak on duty some days ago simply because he showed the Justice where to park his car. In that gothic and gory video, the justice was seen displaying his karate skills on an innocent and vulnerable Nigerian.
This left many pondering as to why a Justice, a Learned person would engage in such a barbaric, callous, and terrible behavior not fitting of his office and person.

Tarok Intellectuals condemn in totality this inhumane exhibition of unceremonious, intimidating, unscrupulous, oppressive and unwholesome exuberance on the vulnerable.

Tarok Intellectuals’ hereby states this for the record:

  1. That the Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar do not know even the primary constituency to which his office is functioning, hence unfit for such a position.
  2. That Justice Danladi Umar should kindly apologize to Nigerians on National Television for such global disgrace and subsequently resign his position as Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau. For he is a bad example of what a leader should be. Looking at how he attacked other public office holders, his action now speaks volumes about the facade of integrity he claims to have.
  3. That the Justice lacks sound morals and other requirements of being a Justice, hence he should be demoted. How can a justice batter and assault an innocent person? Is there moral justification for this whatsoever?
  4. That Justice Danladi Umar compensates the owners of the shopping mall for disrupting public peace, and Mr Sargwak be paid the sum of #10 Million Naira and put under medical insurance for 5 years considering the kind of blows he received from the Justice.
  5. That Justice Danladi Umar inflicted pains on Mr Sargwak while discharging his duties as a law-abiding security guard. Mr Sargwak’s right was abused. He was embarrassed, beaten disappointingly, by a man who is supposed to be a leader. He infringed on this man’s fundamental human rights contrary to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
  6. That Justice Danladi Umar took the law into his hands by his act, and should be detained and or face the wrath of the law for same: Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
  7. That having taken the position above, it will serve as deterrence to anyone who has such evil intentions on his fellow against the equality of all men.

We hold this truth to be self-evident that all lives matter and everyone is equal before the law.

A man who should be the custodian of rule of law in a democratic society has chosen to unleash mayhem on an ordinary Nigerian discharging his legitimate duties. We view the display of this poverty of civilised norms of behaviour as not only repugnant to our collective sense of humanity but shows the judicial bandit as severely lacking emotional and social intelligence. In a sane and civilised clime, this man should have been relieved of his position immediately after this unprovoked assault on an ordinary Nigerian doing his business.

This puerile behaviour should be roundly condemned by conscientious Nigerians. A judicial officer should be above board and a man of impeccable character, gentle and courteous. Justice Danladi Umar can be properly described as a judicial bandit and not an officer. Authorities concerned should conduct emotional, psychological and integrity test on Justice Danladi Umar to determine the state of his fitness to continue to function in his office.

Berom Youths Body Urges PLASIEC to Conduct LG Polls in Remaining LGAs

TEXT OF A PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE PRESIDENT OF BEROM YOUTHS MOULDERS-ASSOCIATION-BYM ON THE URGENT NEED TO CONDUCT LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN JOS SOUTH, JOS NORTH, RIYOM AND BARKIN-LADI LGAs.

Monday, 30th September 2019.

All Protocols.

We bring you profound greetings from the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, an umbrella body of peace loving Berom youths who are working earnestly for the enthronment of peace, equity and justice in Plateau State.

You are all aware that Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) suspended the conduct of Local Government Election in four Local Government Area of Jos South, Jos North, Riyom and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.

We wish to inform you that government has not made pronouncement on the conduct of election in the respective Local Government Areas.

PLASIEC had conducted Local Government Election in the state on October 10, 2018 but suspended the polls in Jos North, Jos South, Riyom and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas few days to the election.

This was after all interested political parties including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the. opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had filled Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates just like their counterparts in the 13 Local Government Areas where the Election was held.

These Candidates from all the political parties had fulfilled all the necessary requirements of PLASIEC and embarked on electioneering campaigns where the spend huge sums of money. But few days to the election, PLASIEC suspended the polls in the concerned Council Areas.

They hinged their reasons on the state of insecurity that ravaged those Local Government Areas which was considered political by some observers. PLASIEC went further to say that their action was based on the advise given by the State Security Council.

To our dismay, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the 2019 General Elections without any hitches in Jos South, Jos North, Riyom and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.

Votes for the Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and State House of Assembly counts from the respective council areas and winners declared without violent protest.

We wish to acknowledge the fact thay Jos South, Jos North, Riyom and Barkin-Ladi are experiencing relative peace where citizens embark on their daily activities without harassment intimidation and violent attacks except in some few cases.

The Governor of Plateau State has also confirmed in several forums that his administration has restored relative peace in the state coupled with the recent peace programme staged by the Plateau Peace Building Agency where various peace stakeholders were honoured.

Our demands are as follows:

  1. With the relative peace the state has recorded so far, we demand that Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) should conduct Local Government Election in Jos South, Jos North, Riyom and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas without further delay.
  2. The entire peace loving Berom youths home and abroad express utmost support for the conduct of the Local Government Election to enable people in the affected Local Government Areas participate in the election of those who will govern them as permitted by the democratic rules.
  3. We express our dismay over the position of Government in suspending election in the four local government areas which many people believed that the action was taken based on the fact that the ruling APC was not going to win election in those Local Government Areas.
  4. As non partisan organization, we do not share in that school of thought but we have made effort to educate people on the need to respect government policies but keep quiet on the conduct of election in the affected council areas is not healthy.
  5. We demand that the State Governor, Simon Lalong should direct Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to fix a date and conduct the Election to enable the affected Local Government Areas to enjoy the dividends of democracy as its counterparts.
  6. Any further silence from government on the conduct of the elections in those various local governments will leave us with the impression that the present administration is willing and has taken a deliberate decision to marginalize people in the affected Local Government Areas based on the reason known to them.

As youths, we will continue to respect all constituted authorities and remain law abiding and peaceful in all our conduct while we await Government quick response to our demands.
Thank you
